Ever Dance with the Devil in the Pale Moonlight?

Do you like my OG Batman quote? It seemed appropriate. The devil isn’t a good dance partner but sometimes you’ve got to dance in his presence and it’s not always easy.

Last week, I made a deal, a deal with the devil, and I intend to keep it.

My counselor first told me about this deal. She made a similar one with a narcissistic spirit in her life years ago. It sounded like a solid plan. I’ve been struggling with a narcissistic person in my life as well, so I made the deal too. I’ve grown so tired of this enemy popping up and derailing my focus and my peace. Remember, we talked last week about how every enemy, no matter what face they wear, comes from only one place. So I decided last week that every time this enemy rears its ugly head that I would do three random acts of kindness in the Name of Jesus and His Love.

The old devil rang me up yesterday, so today I must live up to my end of the bargain. He can keep knocking on my door and I will keep turning it into love and good deeds— times three. I have one more to complete today to make good on my promise and it feels great. It’s a much better feeling than the anger and bitterness the enemy wants to drown me in. Love is good medicine, and a good weapon when needed.

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21

The enemy fights low. He loves to lash out and then run back into his hole, and nothing is more frustrating, for someone who likes true resolution, than to be denied a chance to speak. So instead of stooping to the enemy’s level and picking up a sharp stick to poke back, I’ve found a more effective weapon and one he hates even more— love.

So when you feel like you can’t fight. When you are choosing the high road but still feeling defeated, I hope you too find that there is a way and it isn’t through violence and anger, but it’s through acts of love. What a shift in energy! My focus has changed from all the negative things I wish I could say or do to a long list of all the positive things I can be a part of accomplishing in my circle of influence, one being sharing all my warfare secrets here in this blog.

I pray this encourages you to fight your enemy, but not fight like he does. Fight like Jesus did while on Earth. Love conquers all. I’m betting on that, and doubling down, actually I’m TRIPLING down. Love times three. That’s my promise, dear enemy.

Love times three.

I can’t sit this one out anymore, so let’s dance, shall we? Love is a darn good song and I’m feeling the beat and the only thing underfoot is all the anger and bitterness the devil’s thrown my way. There’s not enough room on the dance floor for us both though, and I’m not going anywhere and that’s a promise– times three.
